The Suzuki rider started from third place and initially stayed with leaders Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner, only to be pushed back to a distant seventh as Alex de Angelis and the Tech 3 riders charged forward.
He admitted that he was becoming frustrated with the Suzuki's habit of fading over a race distance.
"I'm disappointed today, very disappointed, because I was expecting a better result than what we got," Capirossi told Italia1 television.
"We carry on having the same problems: we might be quick for a couple of laps, but over the whole race we suffer, and we have the usual problem of having to lean a lot on the bike to make it turn in corners.
"This consumes the tyres more at the sides and in the end we don't have any more left. If only leaning a lot counted for anything...
"The important thing is to be quick, but we are not it for the entire race. This gives us difficulties.
"I thought I could at least fight for the podium, but it wasn't to be. Shame."
He said that Suzuki are working on an entirely new bike in an effort to solve their current problems.
"I know Suzuki are working hard and are trying to speed up on the new bike," Capirossi revealed.
"I don't know when it will be ready, but we still have a lot of work to do.
"There's a new bike coming I hope as soon as possible because with this one we are pretty much on the limit. It's the base of last year's bike with many new things but we still need to take a step forward.
"Let's hope the ideas we've brought to the new bike are positive. Time will tell."
