But the 22-year-old, who set the fastest time on the Japanese rubber when he tested the tyres at Misano last week, admitted it will take time to adjust.
"We started slowly and finally we got improvements over the others," he said.
"For our first test it was nice to have some hours to try and a lot of work of course. But you know I was happy and finally we had a good test.
"Of course when we changed the tyres immediately I felt we must work to adapt to these tyres and we have to find the best combination, and right now with this new track it is also another thing so I just try to enjoy this weekend here."
