Spies promises there's more to come

Suzuki's rookie sensation Ben Spies says there is more to come from him after a promising first day's practice for the Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP.

The 24-year-old from Tennessee, who has been entered by Suzuki as wild card rider for the two American races and subbed for Loris Capirossi at Donington, ended the day fifth fastest overall, less than a second slower than teammate Chris Vermeulen.

"It was good today and we're quite pleased with how it went," said the reigning AMA Superbike champion. "We finished both sessions early because it was so wet we weren't going to make any difference.

"They were both good sessions for us though and although the track was a bit awkward in places - because the water was laying on the surface - and it made it difficult in parts.

"I know I still had a bit in reserve and if the conditions are the same tomorrow I am sure I can go a good bit quicker!"
