Gresini re-signs de Angelis for '09

Gresini re-signs de Angelis for 09

Alex de Angelis will remain in MotoGP next year after re-signing with the Gresini Honda team.

The Italian team' decision to exercise their option on the second year of de Angelis' contract comes after a promising debut season in the premier class for the San Marinese rider, in which he has twice finished fourth.

Prior to this season, he twice finished third in the 250cc class - taking his sole class win at Valencia in 2006 - and was Dani Pedrosa's closest rival for the 125cc title in 2003.

Fellow Gresini rider Shinya Nakano has been on a factory-spec Honda RCV212V since the Czech Grand Prix last month. Honda have not confirmed whether or not de Angelis will now be given similar machinery before the end of the season.
