The American is happy with the current performance of his Repsol Honda but believes he could have gone a little quicker on his last lap of qualifying.
"It's possible that I could have squeezed a bit more out, but there were waving yellows in the last chicane," said Hayden.
"The conditions weren't great this morning but it's good that we got to learn more about the intermediate tyres because we don't get to do a lot of testing on them.
"The bike feels pretty good and the qualifying tyres were excellent, so we'll see what happens tomorrow. It sure would be nice to get a result. I don't want to make any big predictions, let's see what the weather does.
"I'm feeling pretty good and I've been up near the top most of the weekend in the wet or day, so let's hope we can do it when it counts."
