Chinese Grand Prix future in doubt

Chinese Grand Prix future in doubt

Shanghai could have held its last MotoGP round on Sunday, as rumours suggested the Chinese circuit will not be on the calendar next season.

The series has visited Shanghai every year since 2005, but the official press kit for this weekend's round included a sheet bidding "farewell" to MotoGP - although no officials would confirm it during the weekend.

Should China be dropped from the calendar, Hungary could step in with a race at a new circuit being developed near a popular lakeside tourist venue in the centre of the country.

Jorge Martinez 'Aspar', who was behind the projects to build the Valencia MotoGP circuit, and the new Formula One street circuit around the city's port, is rumoured to be involved in the Hungarian project.
