Lorenzo diagnosed with further injuries

Lorenzo diagnosed with further injuries

Jorge Lorenzo's injuries are worse than initially thought following his heavy crash during practice for the Chinese Grand Prix last weekend.

Lorenzo was diagnosed with a fractured ankle after being thrown off his bike in Friday's practice. Despite that, the Spaniard raced to fourth place in Sunday's race.

Lorenzo underwent further tests in Barcelona on Monday, when he was diagnosed with a broken astralagus bone in the right ankle and a broken ligament in the left one.

The Yamaha rider will have to have both ankles immobilised for some time, although he will not have to undergo surgery.

Lorenzo will have further tests next Monday in order to judge the length of the recovery period.

The next round of the championship takes place in France on 18 May.
