Lorenzo to have further tests

Lorenzo to have further tests

Jorge Lorenzo will return to Spain later this week to have further x-rays on his ankles after injuring them in a practice crash at Shanghai on Friday.

The Spaniard was amazed to be able to finish fourth on his 21st birthday today, despite racing with fractured bones in both his ankles. But he's keen to get back to Europe to work on his fitness ahead of the next round at Le Mans on May 18.

He will return to the clinic in Barcelona, where he had an operation on his arms three weeks ago, for further tests on his injuries.

"I will go to the clinic to see if I may have another fracture in my right ankle," he said from his wheelchair after the race in China today.

Lorenzo now lies second in the MotoGP standings, seven points behind championship leader Dani Pedrosa and two ahead of his Fiat Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi, who took his first victory of the season today.
